Against what I could hold instead
Each held at my exposure, the rest in T-billsJEPI and BALI are the funds I could hold instead; the S&P 500 is there for context only, held at my exposure like them. My mandate is absolute return, not beating an index: a portfolio fully in stocks isn’t one I would hold, because the family’s spending needs a source of cash other than selling assets.

How the record is kept
- Source
- Both accounts’ daily statements from my broker, downloaded every morning, turned into the composite as the Method defines it: the record is the broker’s figures, not a spreadsheet of mine.
- Shown here
- Every week, to the previous Friday’s close, in percentages only. The daily file stays on request.
- Frozen
- At each quarter-end, that quarter’s daily returns and exposure go into one file,
record-YYYY-Qn.csv, and its fingerprint onto the ledger; until then a figure can still be corrected. The first file, frozen at launch, holds everything since 15 Sep 2023. - Frozen files
