Disclosures

What this site is and isn’t, my positions, the rules I keep when I publish, and how I use software and AI.

Not investment advice

Not investment advice. I write to document decisions about my family’s own capital; there are no outside investors and nothing is for sale. Nieva Family Office is the name under which I manage that capital: one portfolio manager, no outside investors, no services offered. Nothing on this site is an offer of any financial service.

My positions

I usually hold the companies I write about, often alongside listed options, and adjust positions as part of risk management. Each note states my position on the day it was published. Positions change after that without notice.

The 72-hour rule

I don’t trade against a published view in the 72 hours after publishing it, except to carry out a pre-stated exit or risk limit.

Research notes and EU market rules

Under the EU Market Abuse Regulation, a note that suggests an investment strategy can count as an investment recommendation. So each note states who wrote it, when it was written and first published, and my position on the day it was published, and it marks the source of every figure, so that company filings, management statements, third-party data and my own calculations can be told apart.

How AI is and isn’t used

The research is mine: what to read, what matters, what the numbers mean, and when I’m wrong. I listen to earnings calls myself. Models over-read wording and posture, and they don’t know what I’m listening for, which is often what goes unsaid. Every figure in a note comes from the company’s filings or from my own calculation on them, marked i or H. I don’t take numbers from data aggregators, which often disagree with each other on something as basic as a P/E. I use software, AI included, for mechanical work: transcribing my handwriting and correcting my English, both checked line by line against the notebook page shown with each note; building this site and helping word its pages; and writing the code that computes the returns.

Where the figures come from

Figures in the notes come from the companies’ filings or from my own calculations on them; management statements and third-party figures are marked as such. The record is computed from the broker statements of both accounts, and the benchmark funds’ returns from their issuers.
